Samsung Electronics is a leading semiconductor manufacturers as well as South Korea's largest consumer electronics manufacturer. The company makes DVD players, TVs, computers, color monitors, LCD panels, printers, semiconductors, flash memory, and wireless phones. Samsung Electronics is the flagship subsidiary of Samsung Group, which also makes air conditioners, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and washing machines.
September 2009 -- Samsung Electronics Co. states it is no longer pursuing a plan to acquire SanDisk Corp. SanDisk Corporation develops and markets flash storage cards that are used in consumer electronics devices. In May, the two companies signed a patent-licensing deal that eased the threat of litigation between them in the flash-memory chip technology.
