Consideration: $23 million (Source: TechCrunch)

Google acquires Adscape, a video game advertising company whose AdverPlay product lets developers place dynamic ads right inside the game.

In a press release, Google stated: '"As more and more people spend time playing video games, we think we can create opportunities for advertisers to reach their target audiences while maintaining a high quality, engaging user experience."

Strategic Implications

In part, the Adscape acquisition was a cascade response to Microsoft's acquisition of Massive, another in-game advertisement company, for $200 million in 2006.
