Consideration: not disclosed; Google has stated that it does not plan to release financial information on any of the other robotics companies it acquired in 2013.

Google acquires Meka Robotics, which designs and develops humanoid robotic systems for researchers.

In related transactions, Google acquired six additional robotics-related companies: Autofuss, Bot & Dolly, Holomni, Industrial Perception, Redwood Robotics, and Schaft.

Andy Rubin, former head of Google's Android initiative will lead robotics development. The New York Times reports Google does not plan to build robots for consumers, but rather for industrial uses such as competing with Amazon's vision of flying delivery drones.
