Google acquires spider.io (click fraud prevention)

Google acquired Spider.io, a developer of technology to identify and weed out fraudulent clicks relating to online ads. The technology also helps detect attacks originating from devices infected by malware.
Spider.io’s seven employees, including founder Douglas de Jager will now join Google. Three of these seven employees are PhDs.
The following is from Google's official blogpost: "... [a] vibrant ecosystem only flourishes if marketers can buy media online with the confidence that their ads are reaching real people, that results they see are based on actual interest. To grow the pie for everyone, we need to take head on the issue of online fraud."
