Google acquires Appetas, a website that restaurants can use to build their own websites, adding services such as OpenTable to provide features like delivery services and reservations. Google plans to shut down the service and apparently will integrate it with Google’s location-based services and restaurant content obtained from the Zagat acquisition.
Google continues to enhance its relationship with local businesses, especially the restaurant sector in order to better with services such as Yelp. Appetas technology may possibly be used to rekindle Zagat's brand after a disappointing integration of Zagat into Google.
