Google acquires Vision Factory, founded by Professor Andrew Zisserman. Dr. Karen Simonyan and Max Jaderberg, to build computer vision systems. Among other applications, computer vision systems can be used to develop algorithms to enable robots to deal with three-dimensional objects and movements.

Strategic Implications

Google/DeepMind is continuing to acqui-hire deep leaning talent in the UK. Google is also partnering with Oxford University, which had spun out Vision Factory, as well as Dark Blue Labs, another Google AI-related deal.
