Consideration: $30-40M in cash (Source: WSJ)
Twitter acquires ZipDial, a marketing platform that helps companies connect to customers in emerging markets who do not have access to the Internet. The company's technology helps businesses reach consumers via a mobile platform using a missed call method that allows users to receive information without being charged.
The deal allows Twitter to tap into offline users in fast-growing emerging markets. Acquiring new users means additional advertising dollars. Beyond emerging markets, the acquisition will help Twitter enhance its mobile marketing platform.
